Why Getting Braces During the Summer Is a Great Option

Wondering when you should plan on getting braces for your child? Here at Cibolo Pediatric Dentistry, we think summer is the perfect time to start their treatment, and it just so happens to be right around the corner!

Easy Scheduling

During the summer, kids have more free time. That makes scheduling orthodontic visits a lot easier. You won’t have to worry as much about working around school and extracurricular activities like clubs and sports. Not to mention taking them away from their homework! The first few appointments in the treatment plan are generally longer than the others that will be required. Therefore, it's the best possible scenario when you can get those taken care of during the summer months.

Getting Used to Braces

Braces are an adjustment. Your child will likely wear them for several years and they will eventually feel comfortable and natural. But at first, they will take some getting used to. Initially, there’s some pain and discomfort. There’s also just getting used to the look and feel of the appliances. It’s generally a lot easier to go through this stage when your child is not in school every day and attending various other social engagements. Plus, this will give your child some time to rest and relax when any initial pain and discomfort occurs.
